Abstract
These Regulations are made in exercise of the powers conferred by sections 6 and 77 of the Fisheries Act, 2014. The objective of these Regulations is to implement the Seychelles Mahé Plateau Trap and Line Fishery Co-management Plan (Plan) published in Government Notice No. 68 of 2020. The coordinates for the area to which these Regulations apply are mentioned. Part II of the Regulations contain management measures which include licensing requirements for gear, restrictions of catch size, bag limits, use of traps and compliance with vessel monitoring system. Part III prohibits sale of fish caught in recreational or sport fishing. No person shall purchase fish unless it was caught by a license holder in a commercial fishery and in compliance with these Regulations. Part IV provides for the institutional arrangements which includes establishment of Implementation Committee to oversee the implementation of the Plan. Part V lays down the penalties for contravention of the Regulations.
