Lighting of Fires (Restriction) Act, 2019 (No. 12 of 2019).

This Act regulates the lighting of open fires and charcoal kilns. The text is organisez in four Parts and 3 Schedules.
After a first, preliminary, Part providing for the interpretation of the text and for its application (and its exclusions from application), a second Part not only establishes a permit as requirement to light, cause or authorise to light any open fire or any charcoal kiln anywhere in Seychelles (providing fr the relevant procedure) but it also prohibits the removal of any three incidentlly destroyed by the fire and any replantation.
Part three provides for fire restrictions, offences and penalties. In particular, this Part provides that the Minister responsible for environment has the power to declare an area to be a fire restricted one. Also he can impose a ban on lighting of fires for a defined period. All th eabove can be subject to monitoring with consequent punishment of contraventions.
The final Part sets up miscellaneous provisions such as regulations for carrying out the provisions of this Act, including exceptions, additional safeguards, fees.
