Abstract
These Regulations prohibit the discharge of any oil or oily mixture from land or from a vessel in the territorial waters of the Seychelles (“prohibited sea area”) and declares this and the discharge of any oil or oily mixture outside the prohibited sea area that causes pollution within the prohibited sea area to be an offence. The Regulations further: make provision in relation with special defences; require owners or masters of a vessel to report on oil discharges or leaks from a vessel; provide for the appointment of pollution control officers; provide for enforcement including hot pursuit; and provide for the payment of costs of restoration of damage caused or a bond for the release of a detained vessel.
