Merchant Shipping (Marine Accident Reporting and Safety Investigation) Regulations, 2022 (S.I. 92 of 2022).

These Regulations are made in exercise of the powers conferred by section 242 of the Merchant Shipping Act. They apply in respect of accidents involving or occurring on board any Seychelles flagged ship worldwide, any ship within Seychelles territorial sea or any other ship where in the opinion of the Board, Seychelles is a substantially interested state. The functions of the Board in relation to the marine safety investigations are laid down. The objective of marine safety investigation is provided. The duty to report accidents and serious injuries is on the master and ship’s owner. Part II of the Regulations contain the detailed procedure for conducting marine safety investigations. Part III makes provisions for cooperation with substantially interested states. Part IV provides for the reports of the marine safety investigations. Part V lays down the penalties for contravention of provisions of the Regulations.
