Abstract
This Act provides for the establishment of the Seychelles Fisheries Authority (Authority). Section 4 lays down the functions of the Authority which include promotion, development and regulation of fisheries, advising the government on matters related to fisheries and other functions as mentioned therein. Section 5 provides for the powers of the Authority. Further, the Act makes provisions for composition of the Board of the Authority, eligibility and term of appointment of the members, meetings of the board, constituting committees and meetings of such committees. The appointment of Chief Executive Officer and Deputy are also provided for. The provisions for funds of the Authority are also laid down. The accounts of the Authority are subject to audit and annual report must be submitted to the government on the operations of the Authority together with a copy of its annual audited accounts as well as any report by the auditors on its management and accounting practices. The Minister may give to the Authority written directions on the policy to be followed by the Authority and also make regulations.
