Abstract
This Act consisting of 168 articles applies to all types of shipping means except warships. It establishes that (i) the competent authority shall supervise and inspect the maritime activity of commercial vessels in accordance with the international and regional agreements ratified by Sudan; (ii) to sail the Sudanese flag the vessel has to be registered; and (iii) the competent authority shall issue the certificate of validity of the ship to sail after fulfilling the necessary conditions.
The Act deals also with (i) ship's logbook; (ii) ownership; (iii) maritime mortgage; (iv) seizure of a ship; (v) marine navigation and profession; (vi) leasing rules; (vii) transport of persons; and (viii) collisions, assistance and rescue.
