Act (1998:812) Containing Special Provisions concerning Water Operations.

This Act provides with respect to specific matters related to water activities and water facilities. Provisions for water activities and water facilities are also included in the Environmental Code. The definitions contained in the Environmental Code also apply to this Act. The Act basically concerns environmental concerns regarding water abstraction and waterworks. It also concerns land drainage, hydropower, and irrigation. Some provisions deal with proceedings by the Land and Environmental Courts. The Ministry of Environment shall keep a list of water activities in the area of jurisdiction to the extent prescribed by the government. Anyone who conducts a water activity or has a water supply as recognized under the law shall, in cases of severe water shortages, refrain from water that is indispensable for the general water supply or for other general need if the water shortage is caused by drought or any other comparable circumstance.
