Abstract
This Act implements certain EU provisions with regard to the promotion of renewable energy and on the criteria of biofuels and bio-liquids requirements (sustainability criteria). These eco-sustainable energy productions include: biomass, waste and residues from biological origin from agriculture, forestry, fisheries, aquaculture and related sectors , as well as biodegradable fraction of industrial and municipal waste. Biofuels or liquid biofuels made from agricultural raw materials cultivated in the EU shall be regarded as sustainable raw material in accordance to article 6.1 and Annex III of Council Regulation 73/2009.
The Act consists of 5 Chapters: Introductory provisions (1); Sustainability criteria (2); Reporting, sustainability decision and inspection (3); Supervision (4); Appeals (5); Transitional provisions (5).

Entry into force notes
1 October 2010. Chapter 3, article 2, section 1 shall enter into force on 1 January 2011. Chapter 3, article 1, section 2 shall enter into force on 1 August 2010. Biofuels and bio-liquids produced by installations operating on 23 January 2008 shall be valid until 1 April 2013.
