Abstract
This Act applies to implied use and intentional release of genetically modified organisms (defined in article 2) and materials which contain such organisms (art. 1). Article 3 defines regulation-making powers of the Government. Article 4 introduces a general obligation of caution when handling genetically modified organisms to avoid damage to the environment and public health. Articles 6 to 11 provide for the granting, etc. of licenses for the placing on the market of products that contain genetically modified organisms. Articles 12 to 15 make provision for supervision and control by an authority to be appointed by the Government. Article 16 defines in general tasks of the Genetic Engineering Board.
