Abstract
This Act applies to the production, marketing, and importation of alcoholic beverages and the trade of such goods. The Act also applies to the production of spirits, as well as the importation, exportation, and trade of spirits, and the trade of alcohol-containing preparations. It also applies to the marketing, importation, and trade of alcohol-like preparations. The Act aims to control the availability and distribution of alcohol to promote public health and safety. It sets out rules for licensing, advertising, and the responsibilities of businesses involved in the alcohol industry, with the ultimate goal of reducing alcohol-related harm in society. Alcoholic beverage refers to a drink with an alcohol content exceeding 2.25% by volume. According to the Act, alcoholic beverages are classified into spirits, wine, beer, and other fermented alcoholic beverages. Wine, light beer, strong beer, and other fermented alcoholic beverages may only be manufactured by those who have been approved as a holder for the production or processing of such beverages according to Section 3. Retail of spirits, wine, strong beer, and other fermented alcoholic beverages, as well as alcoholic beverage-like preparations, may only be carried out by a state-owned company.
