Abstract
This Decree contains provisions on the duties, functioning and organization of the Swedish Board of Agriculture. As the administrative authority in the areas of agriculture, fisheries, and related rural development, the Board is responsible for promoting sustainable development, good animal welfare, a dynamic and competitive business sector across the country, and food production for the benefit of consumers. The Board shall, among other things: 1. ensure good animal health for animals under human care; 2. contribute to securing public health by preventing the spread of and combating animal diseases in accordance with Swedish legislation and EU regulations; 3. ensure good animal welfare; 4. prevent the spread of and combat plant pests; 5. promote safe feed and food and consider consumer interests in its part of the food chain; 6. work towards a risk-based, effective, and uniform control in its area of operation; 7. work to combat antibiotic resistance within its area of responsibility; etc.
