Abstract
This Decree contains provisions on the management and implementation of the Maritime, Fisheries, and Aquaculture Program 2021-2027, and supplements EU legislation on this program. Support may be provided for such interventions and costs that are eligible for support according to this Decree and the applicable provisions in Regulation (EU) 2021/1060 and Regulation (EU) 2021/1139. Support may be provided to those who own a fishing vessel or are professional fishermen for: 1) Investments in selective fishing gear and equipment that reduce the amount of unwanted catch; 2) Investments in fishing gear or other investments that reduce the negative impact on aquatic environments; 3) Investments to protect gear from mammals and birds; 4) Investments that improve catch handling; 5) Investments for sorting and storing aquatic debris caught in gear; or 6) Investments that increase safety and improve working conditions on board fishing vessels. Support may also be granted for investments: 1) To increase sustainable aquaculture production; 2) To enable a higher degree of environmental sustainability in aquaculture by reducing negative impacts or enhancing positive effects on the environment; 3) To improve animal health or welfare or reduce the risk of escapes or disease spread; or 4) To protect cultivation from mammals or birds.
