Abstract
This Decree contains provisions relative to the third countries, i.e. countries defined as such by relevant legislation of the European Communities. The Decree completes in Sweden provisions of articles 14 to 24 of the Regulation (EC) No. 882/2004 of the European Parliament and of the Council on official controls performed to ensure the verification of compliance with feed and food law, animal health and animal welfare rules.
The Decree specifies conditions for the importation of food from third countries, assigns duties of control to the National Food Authority and the Customs Office and defines the offence of illegal importation. The National Food Authority shall be entrusted with powers of control as defined by Commission Decision 2001/812/EC laying down the requirements for the approval of border inspection posts responsible for veterinary checks on products introduced into the Community from third countries and shall have some specific regulation-making powers.
