Law (1971:1154) on prohibition of dumping of waste in water.

This law prohibits the dumping of waste whether solid, liquid, or gas within its maritime territory and economic zone, as well as from Swedish ships or aircraft on the high seas. This law also applies to the burning of waste. Exceptions can be granted by the government or designated authorities if the dumping poses no environmental threat, but consent may be revoked if unforeseen harm occurs. Authorities are responsible for supervision, with access to relevant sites and information. Violations of the law can lead to fines or imprisonment.
