Regulation on cereal-based foods and food for infants and young children (SLVFS 1997:27).

The present Regulation, adopted by the Swedish Food Agency, lays down provisions on certain foods for healthy infants and toddlers. The food shall be intended for use by infants during weaning or by toddlers as a diet-supplement or for gradual adaptation to normal food. It applies to prepared cereal-based foods for infants and toddlers, as well as other baby food for infants and toddlers. The regulations do not apply to milk intended for toddlers. The Regulation The regulations complements Regulation (EU) of the European Parliament and of the Council No 609/2013.
As a general rule, products may not contain any substance in such quantity that it can pose a health risk to infants and young children. Prepared cereal-based foods for infants and young children shall meet the compositional requirements set out in Appendix 1, whereas other baby food for infants and toddlers must meet the compositional requirements specified in Appendix 2. Fortification may only take place with the substances that are included in Appendix 4. Rules on the maximum permitted content of vitamins and minerals are set in Appendix 6. MRL for pesticides are included un Appendix 7. Further, the Regulation contains detailed rules on labelling.
