Abstract
This Agreement between the Government of the State of Johor and the Public Utilities Board of the Republic of Singapore was supplementary to the Johore River Water Agreement between the Johor State Government and City Council of Singapore signed on 29 September 1962. Under this Agreement, Singapore was allowed to construct the Linggiu Dam to facilitate the extraction of water from the Johor River. The Public Utilities Board (PUB) of the Republic of Singapore agreed to pay a M$320 million as compensation for the permanent loss of use of the land and its associated revenue. The cost of building and maintaining the dam shall be borne by Singapore. The Jopor Government agreed to sell treated water generated from the Lingglu Dam to PUB in excess of the 250 million gallons per day of water under the 1962 Johore River Water Agreement. The Johor Government agreed that the quality of the treated water supplied to PUB under this Agreement shall conform with the prevailing World Health Organization's guidelines for drinking water.
