Abstract
This Act makes provision for the establishment, registration, operation and management of Cooperative Societies in Singapore.
The Act empowers the Minister to appoint a person to be the Registrar of Cooperative Societies for the registration, supervision, assistance and control of registered societies. The Act also sets out criteria and conditions for registration of cooperative societies.
The Act further provides for: privileges and duties of cooperative societies; rights and liabilities of members of cooperative societies; organization and management of cooperative societies; property and funds of cooperative societies; amalgamation and transfer of cooperative societies; duties and powers of registrar; rule making powers of the Minister; etc.
