Abstract
These Rules set out procedures and requirements for obtaining a licence to keep or maintain farms for the cultivation of plants and for obtaining pesticide operator’s certificates.
The Rules further regulate the use and storage of any pesticide in the cultivation of plants and the sale of fresh fruit and vegetables. Requirements for the storage and disposal of pesticides and for the cleaning and disposal of pesticide containers are defined in the Schedule.
Furthermore, the Rules provide for powers of authorized officers which shall include: to enter and inspect any premises and to take samples for laboratory analysis; prohibit the harvest of crop if unregistered pesticides have been used on it; and inspect any place used for the storage of pesticides.
The remaining parts of the Rules contain penal provisions and licence fees.
