Abstract
These Rules control the import of plants and plant products into Singapore.
The Rules prohibit the importation of regulated plants, regulated plant products or regulated materials except under a permit issued by the Director-General. A phytosanitary certificate is also required to import plants and plant products or materials. Furthermore, the Director General shall also specify import health requirements in respect of any regulated plant, regulated plant product or regulated material.
The Rules further provide for: permit fees; powers of authorized officers to enter and inspect any premises used in connection with the importation of pests, plants, plant products or any regulated material, to direct that any consignment of plants or plant products be detained or quarantined, etc.; loss or expenses incurred for inspection, quarantine, destruction or treatment of plants, plant products or materials; offences and penalties; etc.
