Abstract
This Act gives effect to the International Convention on Civil Liability for Bunker Oil Pollution Damage 2001 and covers the liability of ships that cause bunker oil pollution in Singapore.
The Act prescribes that ship owners are strictly liable for pollution damage resulting from the escape or discharge of bunker oil from their ships. The Act provides for compulsory insurance against liability for bunker oil pollution, for powers of the Director to board and search ships; etc.
