Abstract
This Act provides for the adoption of internationally accepted measures which impose strict liability for oil pollution damage in Singapore.
The Act makes a ship owner liable for costs of any measures reasonably taken and for damage done, both after discharge as well as for measures taken before discharge for preventing or reducing damage outside the ship in the territory of Singapore.
The Act also provides for: compulsory insurance against liability for oil pollution and certification; contributions to the International Oil Pollution Compensation Fund; offences and penalties; etc.
