The goals of Breeding genetics of bears, lynx and deer in the Republic of Slovenia are aimed at standardisation of necessary analysis of non-invasive genetic samples; selection of exemplary genetic markers; development and test of sample collection methods and learn how to successfully isolate related animal DNA. Genetics has come a long way from a time-consuming, expensive method useless for ecological studies of natural populations to the fast, cheap and versatile tool we know today.
