Abstract
This Decision establishes the Climate Council as an independent national scientific advisory body for climate policy. The tasks of the council are to provide scientific advice in the form of expert opinions and recommendations to the Government of the Republic of Slovenia on already established and proposed climate policy measures and their compliance with ratified international treaties and the EU legal order in the field of climate change, and above all the council: 1. monitors the implementation and revisions of the Long-term Climate Strategy of the Republic of Slovenia, the Comprehensive Energy and Climate Plan of Slovenia and other strategic documents that regulate the mitigation of climate change and adaptation to it, decides on reports on their implementation and proposes measures for their effective implementation; 2. proposes measures to mitigate and adapt to climate change and to implement them in accordance with the latest scientific findings and contributes to the comprehensive consideration of cross-sectoral measures regarding climate change; 3. participates in the preparation of regulations and other acts in the field of climate change; 4. prepares an annual report on its work and publishes it publicly on the central website of the state administration; 5. cooperates with expert institutions in the field of climate change and with local communities.
