Abstract
This Decree of the Government of the Republic of Slovenia lays down the method for the protection of animals of wild species in rescue centers, the procedure for selecting qualified persons to perform the related tasks, details on financing the protection of animals in rescue centers. Rescue centre is the space intended for temporary care or treatment of sick or injured animals which have not been able to survive in nature, and animals which were collected from the proprietor of illegal stay in captivity, export, import or other statutory reasons. Types of rescue centers are: for large mammals, for birds, for small terrestrial animals (small mammals, reptiles, amphibians, invertebrates) and for aquatic animals (fish, crustaceans, molluscs and other aquatic animals). This Decree is composed of 27 articles divided into the following Sections: General provisions (Sec. 1); Rescue centre (Sec. 2); Protection of animals in rescue centers (Sec. 3); Functioning of rescue centers (Sec. 4); Control (Sec. 5); Transitional and final provisions (Sec. 6).
