Law on student food subsidy.

This Law sets out the right of students to obtain subsidized student meals on the territory of the Republic of Slovenia, and further defines the method and related criteria for such programmed student food subsidization.
This text is divided into four main Chapters, as follows: I. General provisions; II. Methods of student meal subsidizing; III. Beneficiaries of subsidized student meals/nutrition; IV. Transitional and final provisions.
Professional organizational tasks in subsidizing student meals and control over the purposeful, economical and efficient use of funds shall be performed by the national ministry responsible for labor. Providers of subsidized student meals are selected by the Ministry in public tenders, in accordance with the rules on the implementation of the related budget. In the public tender, quality is taken into account as a priority food criteria, among food prices. Subsidizing student meals are carried out in the form of printed vouchers or electronic records with a computer-aided system in a way that ensures efficiency, transparency and necessary controls. Beneficiaries of subsidized student meals are all persons with status students studying at vocational colleges and higher education institutions in the Republic Slovenia and are not employed, do not perform economic, professional or agricultural activities or management functions as the only or main profession according to the regulations on health care and health insurance and are not recipients of a pension, except recipients of a survivor's pension. Beneficiaries of subsidized student meals are also all students of foreign universities who in the Republic of Slovenia perform study obligations within international exchange programmes. They are all subject to same conditions.
