Abstract
The Preparation of the first generation of Regional Spatial Plans is a Slovenian thematic document aimed at setting initial basic principles and guidelines for the elaboration of regional or local spatial development plans and programmes. Spatial management at the regional level is of key importance for the coherent regional and balanced spatial development of the country. Municipalities must agree on the designs of individual arrangements of local importance (larger economic and industrial zones), and state departments must coordinate the designs of spatial arrangements of national importance.
