Abstract
This Regulation defines the iodization conditions and methods of labelling and packaging of iodized salt intended for human consumption and/or for food production, here defined as a general public health measure for the supply of the necessary quantity if iodine to the population.
Labelling of pre-packed table salt is defined in article 5; labelling and placing on the market of non-iodized salt in article 6. Products must be manufactured and labeled in accordance with the provisions of this Regulation no later than two years after the entry into force of the same (see article 7).
This text is in accordance with the following documents: Directive (EU) 2015/1535 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 9 September 2015 laying down a procedure for the provision of information in the field of technical regulations and of rules on Information Society services; and Regulation (EC) No 764/2008 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 9 July 2008 laying down procedures relating to the application of certain national technical rules to products lawfully marketed in another Member State and repealing Decision No 3052/95/EC.
