Abstract
The objective of this Decree of the Government of the Republic of Slovenia is to protect endangered species of wild animals. This Decree lays down special regime of protection, conservation measures and guidelines to preserve the habitats of animal species in order to maintain the favorable status of these species. The protection regime and protection of habitats ensures the protection on internationally protected species. In particular, it is forbidden to keep in captivity live animals of protected species. This Decree establishes also provisions governing monitoring of: (1) the extent of the natural distribution of species; (2) size or population density; (3) preservation of natural processes for the existence of animal species and habitats; (4) activities, practices, interventions and events that adversely affect the conservation status of species, including incidental capture or killing animals. This Decree is composed of 27 articles divided into the following Sections: Introductory provisions (Sec. 1); Rules of conduct (Sec. 2); Control (Sec. 3); Transitional and final provisions (Sec. 4). Annex 1 specifies the list of protected species of animals. Annex 2 provides the list of animal species whose habitats are protected.
