Abstract
The Resolution on the National Program for equal opportunities for women and men is a strategic document of the Slovenian government, which determines the goals and measures and key policy holders for the realization of gender equality in individual areas of life for women and men in the Republic of Slovenia for the period from 2015 to 2020.
This text includes goals and measures, the main purpose of which is to reduce inequality between the sexes in a particular field. The defined goals are based on the analysis of the position of women and men in each field and the recognition of key problems that need to be addressed. The general goal of the national program, which is also an important social goal and the first condition for a fair and just society, is the equality of women and men. Gender equality means equal recognition, equal power and equal participation of both sexes in all areas of public and private life. Mention that women and men have equal opportunities to realize their potential, with which they contribute to national, political, economic, social and cultural development, and the results are equally beneficial. Gender equality is a social concept that can be explained in the simplest way as a description of a situation in which gender does not appear as a factor influencing access to rights, opportunities and participation in the results of social development.
