Water Plan of the Slovak Republic (Abbreviated version).

This Water Plan of the Slovak Republic, elaborated within the implementation phases of the Water Framework Directive (WFD) comprises the management plan of the national part of the Danube River Basin District, integrating management plans of the sub-basins of this district, as well as management plan of the Vistula River Basin District. The Plan starts out with characterization of the river basins districts. It then describes protected areas as registered in accordance with Act No. 364/2004 (Water Act). In Part 4, the Plan identifies significant anthropogenic pressures on surface water bodies, in each river basin district in accordance with the WFD. These include, among others, pollution by various sources such as agriculture, water abstraction and significant hydromorphological changes affecting also wetlands. Part 5 is about monitoring and evaluation of status of surface water bodies, groundwater, and protected areas. Part 6 describes the environmental objectives and exemptions that form inseparable part of the environmental objectives determined according to the Article 4 WFD. These are formulated for surface water bodies, groundwater bodies, and water dependent protected areas. The latter category comprises nutrient sensitive areas, areas intended for water abstraction for human consumption and habitat, animal and plant protection areas. Part 7 is dedicated to economic analysis of water use and cost recovery of the water services.
