Animals' Diseases Ordinance.

This Ordinance, divided into seven Parts and consisting of 33 articles, provides for the definition of steps for checking animal’s diseases, for the specification of powers of officers and related matters and applies to the Colony and the Protectorate. The Ordinance defines the following relevant terms: animals, including: stock, ruminating animals, cats and dogs; carcass; cattle; disease; fodder; litter; stock and stock inspector. Matters covered by the Ordinance include: notification and separation concerning diseased animals; notification forwarded to veterinary officers and to farmers in case of outbreak of a disease; slaughtering; powers of officers including: burial of carcasses of diseased animals, power of inoculation and disinfection, power to carry out tests, power to restrict slaughter, power to entry and inspect; compensation to be paid for slaughter; declaration of infected areas and rules related to; governmental powers to make regulations and purposes to make regulations, including: prescribing ports and places for importation or exportation of animals, carcasses, hides, skins, hair, wool, butter, litter, dung or fodder, prohibiting movement of animals, prescribing quarantine for imported animals, prescribing cleansing and disinfection, prescribing fees and charges for examination and tests; legal proceedings and penalties.
