Abstract
These Regulations, made under section 112 of the Employment Act of 2023, apply to all employers and workers in Sierra Leone, excluding armed forces and police forces, and covers all pending employment related claims, except where the contrary is expressly stated. The Regulations define: the commissioner of labour and employment; various allowances; solid waste disposal; inorganic waste; private employment agency; unfair dismissal; vulnerable groups; waste collection allowance; young person. Matters covered by these Regulations include: workers’ right to freedom of association; attestation of employment contract; registration and maintenance of employer organisation; register of workers; employment rights and obligations; protection of maternity and paternity rights, including: health protection measures, specific measures for breastfeeding women; protection of child labour and register of child workers; access to nutrition, healthcare and education for workers; special medical risk allowance for pandemic and epidemic outbreaks and disasters; equal remuneration and non-discrimination measures; workers claims and dispute resolution; penalty for offences.
