Abstract
This Act, divided into six Parts, provides for promoting gender equality in employment and training and for improving women’s access and participation to financial institutions and decision-making positions. Part I concerns definition of the relevant terms, including: discrimination based on gender; gender equality; gender mainstreaming; public body; private body; women’s empowerment. Part II concerns women’s role in public elections and women’s appointment to position in public offices.
Part III concerns women’s empowerment, equal remuneration, training and education, equal access to financial services. Part IV provides for the creation of a gender unit within each Ministry and Governmental Agency, aiming at collecting and analysing gender disaggregated data, and at integrating gender demands into all sectoral legal framework, policies, strategies and action plans. Part V concerns monitoring, evaluation and report procedures. Part VI concerns penalties, and compensation for anyone suffering violations of his rights.

An Act to address gender imbalances by making provision for increased appointment of women to decision-making positions and structures so as to achieve at least 30% representation, to provide for the promotion of gender equality in employment and training, to provide for the implementation of gender mainstreaming and budgeting, to provide for financial institutions to prescribe procedures for the improvement of women’s access to finance and to provide for other related matters.
