Abstract
These Regulations, made under section 36 of the National Water Resources Management Agency Act no. 5 of 2017, provides for groundwater development and protection. The Regulations define: aquifer; defective well; Environment Protection Agency; landholder; well contractor; licence. Matters covered by the Regulations include: licence to construct a well for: water abstraction, groundwater monitoring, exploration, or research; reasons to refusal a licence application, including public safety; creation of a complaints committee; construction of a well; environmental protection requirements; avoiding groundwater pollution and contaminants; water quality analysis; registration and inspection of wells; groundwater encountered during mining operations; offences and penalties.
