Abstract
The Penal Code of Somalia, still largely applied throughout the country, consists of three Books; Offences in General; (specific) Crimes; Contraventions. Specific crimes include the breach of a contract of public supplies (involving, amongst others, food or water), the pollution of water used for food, sale of adulterated, counterfeited or noxious food, the illegal diversion of public or private waters, damage to property (irrigation works, forests and plantations are specified), illegal appropriation or killing of animals, the sale of medicinal substances dangerous to public health. Contraventions include the lack of control of animals and cruelty to animals.
