Proclamation by the President of the Federal Republic of Somalia of 30 June 2014 on the EEZ.

This Proclamation declares the Exclusive Economic Zone of the Republic of Somalia to extend to a distance of two hundred nautical miles from the baselines from which the breadth of the territorial waters of the Somali Republic is measured. The Proclamation also defines the jurisdiction and sovereign rights of Somalia in respect of the EEZ. Exploitation of living and non-living resources, including fish, in the Exclusive Economic Zone of the Republic of Somalia shall require the prior written approval of the relevant Ministry of the Federal Government of Somalia and is subject to the applicable laws of subject to the applicable laws of Somalia. In any case where the Exclusive Economic Zone of the Republic of Somalia is adjacent or opposite to the Exclusive Economic Zone of another coastal State, the Federal Government of the Somali Republic is prepared to enter into negotiations with the coastal State concerned with a view to delimiting their respective Exclusive Economic Zones.
