Abstract
This Act establishes rules regarding child labour and labour by young persons, in order to harmonise labour legislation regarding child labour with contemporary realities and requirements as well as applicable International Labour Organisation (ILO) standards. The Act defines the following relevant terms: children; young persons; night work; light work, as the work not harmful to a child’s safety, health, development, or schooling. The Act concerns the following matters: general prohibitions regarding child work and exemptions; conditions to allow children aged 13 and 14, and 15 to perform light work; educational programmes, internship and vocational training; involvement in artistic performances; permitted work for young persons aged 16-17; social protection measures, with social investigation before prosecuting parents or guardians; enforcement, penalties for violations.
