Gender Vision Policy Document 2021-2035.

This Policy Document elaborates on Suriname’s international and regional obligations, in order to achieve gender equality and empowerment of women and girl. The Policy establishes a view of a period of approximately 15 years (2021 – 2035), as processes of social change associated with gender equality and equity require time, and identifies the following priority areas where gender equality may be achieved: labour, income and poverty reduction; education; health; environment and climate change; power and decision making; legal and regulatory framework. The Vision of the Policy aims at achieving by 2035 a Surinamese society free of gender discrimination, gender stereotypes and gender-related violence, in the public as well as the private spheres.
