Abstract
This Order regulates animal production and importation for purposes of preventing and reducing diseases affecting animals. Article 2 concerns administration of the Order. The Chief of the Livestock Service shall be the responsible authority. Article 3 outlines duties of owners or keepers of animals with respect of notification of diseases and keeping diseased animals apart from other animals. The responsible authority or the Director of Livestock may take certain measures to prevent spreading of diseases including the declaration of “infected premises” or “infected region” (arts. 5 and 6). Article 8 concerns destruction of diseased animals. Articles 11 to 13 concern the control on the importation of animals. Importation of animals requires a permit of the Director. Remaining articles prescribe offences and penalties.
