Abstract
This Act provides for the exploration and exploitation of hydrocarbons. The Act defines the following relevant terms: natural gas; associated and non-associated gas; petroleum; petroleum contract; petroleum operations; crude oil; state-owned enterprises. The Act concerns: rights to explore and exploit minerals; authorisation for state-owned enterprises to enter into petroleum agreements to promote the rational development of Suriname's petroleum resources, and to avoid adverse effects on the environment and natural resources; provision of land for state-owned enterprises for their interests; issuance of permits and authorisation; taxes; petroleum contracts.
