Abstract
This Act provides for an agricultural census, in order to gain the most accurate possible insight into the structure of Surinamese agriculture, livestock farming, and aquaculture for the benefit of the government, farmers, the agricultural, industrial, and financial sectors of the business community, and other stakeholders. The Act specifies that the implementation and processing of the Census will be carried out as closely as possible in accordance with the World Programme for the Census of Agriculture 2020 drawn up by the Food and Agriculture Organisation of the United Nations (FAO) and will follow a detailed procedure, covering questions about labour force, legal status, land use, crops, fertiliser and pesticide use, irrigation, livestock and poultry populations, beekeeping, aquaculture, flowers and ornamental plants for sale, access to credit.
