Abstract
This Act makes provision for the establishment of the Forestry Commission, defines its functions and powers and those of the Chief Administrator of the Commission and provides for the composition and internal organization of the Commission.
In general, the Commission shall be responsible for the regulation, management and utilization of forests and forestry resources of The New Sudan and the coordination of policies in relation to them. Tasks of the Commission include: (a) providing advice of national policy and practices related to forests and on land use and development affecting forests, forestry and associated resources; (b) to create and maintain a database of forestry resources; and (c) to receive and assess investment proposal in the forestry sector. The Act also grants regulation-making powers to the Commissioner for Agriculture, Forestry and Animal Resources regarding forestry and forest resources.

Notes
The Forestry Commission (Provisional Order), 2000 is hereby repealed. All Acts, Orders and Regulations done or made under the repealed Provisional Order shall continue in force till repealed or amended in accordance with the provisions of this Act.
