Abstract
This Act provides for the establishment of the Southern Sudan Research Council as a body corporate. The Council shall be an independent public institution and operate within the Presidency of the Government of Southern Sudan. The Council shall, among other things - formulate a comprehensive policy and design programmes for scientific, engineering and technological research and direct its implementation to ensure efficiency and effectiveness in the management and utilization of human, natural and material resources; promote the protection of intellectual property rights; set standards, priorities, regulations and protocols for research. The Governing Council shall be the highest policy making body of the Council. There shall be specialised committees for, among other things, agricultural, environmental, and gender research.
