Abstract
The purpose of this Law is to amend articles 162 (1), 163 (1) and 165 (1) of the Transitional Constitution of the Republic of South Sudan of 2011. The amended provisions are included in Part Eleven of the Constitution, relating to different levels of decentralization: the States, local government and traditional authority. Articles 162, 163 and 165 concern subdivision of the national territory into states, as well as functioning of legislative and executive organisms of such states. As per new article 162 (1), the President may divide the national territory into states and other areas (previously it was stipulated that the territory of South Sudan was composed of ten states governed on the basis of decentralization).
