Abstract
This Act provides with respect to wildlife protection and the establishment of National Parks, Game Reserves, Forest Reserves and other protected areas in South Sudan. The Secretariat of Wildlife Conservation Environment Protection and Tourism shall be the principal authority for purposes of this Act and shall, among other things be responsible for conservation, management and administration of parks, controlled areas and other protected areas, the management, preservation, conservation and protection of wildlife and environmental resources, and the control of trade in protected animals and trophies.
The areas defined in schedule IV are declared to be national parks. No person shall hunt, cut a plant or capture any animal within a national park. Fishing, land clearing and other specified activities require the authorization of the Director General of the Secretariat. The Commissioner may declare any area to be a game or forestry reserve or controlled area. No person shall hunt cut a plant or capture any animal or cut trees within any game or forest reserve and no person shall hunt cut a plant or capture any animal in a controlled area except under a Controlled Area Permit issued in accordance with section 44 of this Act.
No person shall hunt or capture any animal listed in Schedule I and no person shall hunt or capture any animal listed in Schedule II, except under a valid hunting licence or special permit. The Act furthermore provides with respect to, among other things: hunting methods; various hunting licences and permits including permits for local communities; possession of and trade in protected animals; offences and penalties.

Notes
The Wildlife and Environment Conservation and Protection Act 1994 is hereby repealed, provided that all orders and Regulations made thereunder shall be valid till repealed or amended in accordance with the provisions of this Act.
