Abstract
This Decree approves the Convention on Social Security between the Democratic Republic of São Tomé and Príncipe and the Portuguese Republic, signed in Lisbon on 17 February 2004. The two Parties, motivated by the desire to contribute to guaranteeing the social security rights of their nationals, enshrine in particular the principle of equal treatment of nationals of the Contracting States with regard to their respective legislation.

Entry into force notes
This Agreement shall remain in force for a period of one year and shall be tacitly renewed each year for the same period.
Notes
This Agreement shall enter into force on the first day of the second month following the day of receipt of the last notification, in writing and through diplomatic channels, that the requirements of the domestic law of both Contracting States necessary for this purpose have been fulfilled.
