Decree No. 67/2014 on the National Strategy on Gender Equity (ENIEG).

This Decree, consisting of six articles, adopts the National Strategy for Gender Equality and Equity (ENIEG). The country signed the declaration and programme of action of the Beijing World Conference held under the theme “Equality, Development and Peace”, it ratified the United Nations Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination Against Women (C.E.D.A.W.) and Conventions 100 and 111 of the International Labor Organization (O.I.T) on equal pay and discrimination in matters of employment and occupation, adopted the Millennium Development Goals, whose objective 3 is devoted to the promotion of equality between the sexes and the empowerment of women. So, this National Strategy becomes the reference framework for all development partners, beneficiaries and actors, linked to the State, civil society, or international cooperation working towards the sustainable development in São Tomé and Príncipe.
