Abstract
This Decree is composed of two articles and one Annex. It ratifies the 1972 UNESCO Convention for the protection of Natural and Cultural Heritage. The Annex provides the Portuguese version of the Convention. In order to ensure effective protection and conservation and to revalue as actively as possible the cultural and natural heritage located in the territory and under the conditions appropriate to each country, each State Party to this Convention shall seek, as far as possible, to adopt a general policy aimed at giving the cultural and natural heritage a role in collective life and at integrating the protection of this heritage into general planning programmes, etc.
