Abstract
This Law is composed of 15 articles. Article gives terms and definitions. Article 2 considers all crude (raw) salt within the borders of Syria belongs to the State. Article 3 entrusts the General Company for Phosphate and Mines with competencies of the transportation, storage, marketing and pricing of the untreated saline salt by iodine as well as the General Consumer-Firm with marketing of treated rock salt by iodine for edible use. Article 4 entrusts the Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources to define requirements and conditions for the extraction, treatment, transportation and marketing of salt for edible and industrial uses by the private and joint sectors. Articles 5 to 8 deal with procedures for the extraction’s licences and define licence’s fees. Articles 9 to 12 contain offences and penalties.
