Abstract
This Law consisting of 35 articles aims at regulating the cotton cultivation and establishes that it is subject to prior authorization from the Cotton Bureau at the Ministry of Agriculture and Agrarian Reform. The Ministry determines also the varieties that can be cultivated in each region. The Law regulates as well (i) processor plants, including cleaning of cotton and cotton waste and residues; (ii) export of cotton seeds and transfer of cotton seeds inside the country; (iii) import and transit through the national territory; (iv) domestic seed production for agriculture, allowed only to the Cotton Research Department and the General Establishment for Seed Propagation; (v) some processing phases, such as cotton sorting and moisture control; (vi) organization of cotton marketing and the needed certification.
